Founded in 2007, CATCHPLAY quickly became a major player in the movie entertainment business in Taiwan. In the recent years, CATCHPLAY distributed more than 30 films theatrically every year, an average of one movie every other week, and more than 100 titles for DVD and release on digital platforms annually. Today, we are the largest independent distributor in Taiwan with around 2200 library titles to which CATCHPLAY mostly owns all rights.




Capitalizing on the digitalization of Taiwan’s payTV systems, CATCHPLAY launched CATCHPLAY HD Movie Channel in early 2013. Today it has about 1 million subscribers. Our diverse and-wide range content has made CATCHPLAY HD one of the most popular digital movie channels in Taiwan.




In 2014, in addition to distributing the movies we love, we embarked in earnest co-production and investment projects, venturing into content creation locally and internationally.

In the same year, we invested in the locally produced film, Paradise in Service and co-produced 20 Once Again with CJ Entertainment for the Chinese market. Both investments resulted in considerable box office performance in Taiwan, while 20 Once Again, enjoyed outstanding box office performance grossing $380 Million RMB in China.

In early 2015, we closed a partnership deal to invest in New Regency’s three enthralling titles, namely; The Revenant, Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell, marking the first investment of a Taiwanese company in major Hollywood productions. The films will be released in 2016 and 2017 by FOX worldwide except for China, HK, Macau and Taiwan, which will be distributed by CATCHPLAY and partners exclusively. With exclusive content available, CATCHPLAY embarks to build our unique content offering and unparalleled viewing experience.




At CATCHPLAY, we started placing colossal emphasis on the development of digital movie content years before the others did. Today, we are the largest digital content provider in Taiwan. Through various partnership initiatives in collaborations with the major operators, digital content acquisitions from Hollywood and international Independent film studios or licensors, CATCHPLAY plays a preeminent role in setting a viable business model for the digital content industry and providing a selection of digital content each year which enjoy a commanding lead in both quantity and quality.




In 2015, CATCHPLAY established AsiaPlay Inc. with the ambition to become Asia’s largest movie content service provider. Instead of adopting major international players’ one offer-fits-all strategy, we at CATCHPLAY with years of experience and passion for content, believes and embraces the importance of individual market’s unique needs and preference of content. In addition, we examined the unmet needs of movie lovers’ expectations from existing international and local providers. Through our passion for movies and belief in co-creation, internally and together with local leading operators in partnership - we made it a mission to provide the ultimate content offering tailored for each market’s unique needs and deliver superior user experience that will be cherished by movie lovers universally.

In March 2016, the CATCHPLAY On Demand service made its pilot launch in Taiwan. In June 2016, the service launched in Indonesia, partnering with market leader Telkom Indonesia, and in Singapore, partnering with the market's leading pay TV and telecommunication service provider, StarHub.

Today, CATCHPLAY Media Holdings Group owns two distinct companies: CATCHPLAY, Inc. and AsiaPlay, Inc. with involvement from production, theatrical distribution, linear movie channel and both content aggregation and platform operation for digital entertainment services.
