Timothy Chen

Founder & Chairman, CATCHPLAY Inc.

Timothy is the founder of CATCHPLAY Inc., the distribution arm of the CATCHPLAY group. Timothy began his career at VIA’s Taiwan headquarters in 1996. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the University of California Berkeley.

Also a board and advisory member at a number of technology companies, Timothy is involved in social ventures, social media, premium content providers, hardware companies at the semiconductor & system level, and is a hobbyist angel investor. He is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader.

Timothy is also responsible for VIA worldwide business development and strategic partnerships for VIA Technologies, Inc., a leading innovator of PC silicon and platform technologies. In addition to presiding over VIA’s Global Sales & Marketing, he serves as the CEO of VIA China.

Daphne Yang

Chief Executive Officer

Daphne joined CATCHPLAY in 2012 as Executive Director. She oversees the full array of businesses at CATCHPLAY starting from content acquisition, cinematic distribution and licensing. Observing growing opportunities in the digital world, Daphne took the initiatives and led CATCHPLAY to embark on its expansion into the digital content industry in 2015 and successfully launched the CATCHPLAY On Demand service in Taiwan, Singapore and Indonesia in 2016. Daphne has also extended the company’s reach upstream into co-production and investments. The recent projects include The Revenant (2016) and Assassin’s Creed (2016) with Hollywood Studio New Regency and Silence (2016), director Martin Scorsese’s passion project shot completely in Taiwan.

Prior to joining CATCHPLAY, Daphne had extensive experience in international advertising agencies followed by nearly 8 years in the telecom industry as the Vice President of Marketing at Taiwan Mobile.

Shaoyi Chen

General Manager, SCREENWORKS ASIA

Shao-Yi Chen is the General Manager of Production at Screenworks Asia, the production subsidiary of CATCHPLAY and a joint venture with the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA). Founded in 2020, Screenworks Asia develops and produces premium Taiwanese films, series, and factual entertainment for international audiences.

With nearly 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry, Shao-Yi has broad expertise across distribution, licensing, acquisition, financing, and OTT operations. Her work includes contributing to CATCHPLAY’s slate financing for New Regency titles such as The Revenant (2015), Assassin’s Creed (2016), and Martin Scorsese’s Silence (2016).

She co–executive produced 20 Once Again (2015), the Chinese remake of the Korean comedy hit, Miss Granny (2014), and the Thai horror film Cracked (2022). Her producing credits also include the Taiwanese series The Making of an Ordinary Woman 2 (2021), Twisted Strings (2022), and the TV show Dee’s Talk (2021).

Roy Soetanto

Roy is currently working as Principle Advisor and Acting Country Manager for CATCHPLAY Indonesia. He oversees Business Planning, Strategic Leadership, New Business Development, and Brand & Marcom Stewardship. Prior to the advisory role, Roy was the Chief Marketing Officer, Asia Pacific for CATCHPLAY+ from 2016 to 2021. He played an instrumental role in the successful launch of CATCHPLAY+ in Singapore and Indonesia in 2016.

A passionate professional with more than 20 years of experience in the advertising business, Roy has a comprehensive knowledge and proven track record from branding, marketing, communication to people management.

Prior to joining CATCHPLAY, Roy has held several Managing Director roles at several reputable international advertising agencies in both Taiwan and Shanghai.

Brian Lai

Brian Lai joined CATCHPLAY+ in 2017 and currently serves as Deputy COO. Previously Director of Product Development, Brian played a pivotal role in building and scaling the platform experience across web, mobile, and TV apps. He continues to drive innovation and operational excellence, aligning product strategies with business growth while managing key partnerships across Taiwan, Indonesia, and Singapore that contribute significantly to both revenue and subscriber base.

Over the years, Brian has led major initiatives including the redesign of the homepage, the launch of the HBO GO branded zone within the service, and the seamless integration of new distribution partners such as IndiHome, First Media, Homeplus and Kbro.

Since joining the company in 2020, he has led the OTT platform development team to drive product innovation, focusing on integrating technology with user experience. With a foundation of robust architecture and innovative thinking, he continues to support the long-term growth of the platform while enhancing the viewing experience and ensuring service quality and stability for Catchplay+ users.

Claire is the Vice President of Theatrical Distribution at CATCHPLAY. She brings over 12 years of experience in film distribution and a decade of expertise in the advertising industry. With a well-rounded background in both marketing and sales, she offers a comprehensive perspective on identifying the most suitable film genres and release strategies for the market.

At CATCHPLAY, she has contributed to the distribution of major international titles such as The Revenant and La La Land, the Thai box-office hit Bad Genius, and the acclaimed Taiwanese film The Silent Forest. Her core strengths include box office data analysis and cinema partnership management, enabling her to navigate market challenges, elevate performance, and collaborate effectively with her team.

A pivotal figure at CATCHPLAY for over 16 years, Charline currently serves as Vice President of Public Relations and Social Media Communications. Her responsibilities span public relations, media management and social platform management across theatrical distribution, the OTT platform, and flagship Taiwanese drama releases by the Company.

With nearly 25 years of experience in the entertainment business, she has led the strategic publicity campaigns for over a thousand films, including The Expendables, The Hunger Games, Silence, The Revenant, La La Land, and Parasite, as well as acclaimed Taiwanese series such as The World Between Us, The Making of an Ordinary Woman, and Twisted Strings series.

Known for her ability to spot trends and craft thoughtful communication plans, Charline brings an authentic and collaborative approach that strengthens media relationships and enhances visibility for projects. Her focus on improving processes and problem-solving has also helped reduce operational costs and support overall efficiency.
